Storage Temperature Guide
| Form | Temperature | Shelf Life |
|---|---|---|
| Lyophilized (powder) | -20°C (freezer) | 2+ years |
| Lyophilized (fridge) | 2-8°C | 6-12 months |
| Reconstituted (fridge) | 2-8°C | 7-14 days |
| Room temperature | 20-25°C | Hours-days (degrade rapidly) |
Handling Best Practices
- Light sensitivity: Store peptides in opaque containers or away from direct light. UV exposure accelerates degradation.
- Temperature stability: Avoid repeated temperature cycling. Storing in a dedicated lab fridge prevents temperature fluctuations from frequent door opening.
- Moisture control: Lyophilized peptides are hygroscopic. Always allow vials to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.
- Cross-contamination: Use separate syringes for each peptide vial. Never reuse needles or syringes.
- Sterility breach: If the rubber stopper shows visible damage, discard the vial. A compromised seal means contamination risk.
Signs of Peptide Degradation
Discard peptides if you observe: cloudiness or particulates in reconstituted solution, discoloration (should be clear/colorless), unusual odor, or visible precipitate that doesn't dissolve with gentle warming.
