How to Reconstitute Peptides: Step-by-Step
Published April 26, 2026 · 10 min read
โ ๏ธ Proper reconstitution is critical. Incorrect technique can degrade the peptide, introduce contamination, or result in inaccurate dosing. Follow this protocol every time.
What You'll Need
Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
Clean your work surface thoroughly with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Lay out all materials within easy reach. Put on nitrile gloves. Ensure good lighting โ small measurements require precision. Some researchers use a laminar flow hood for maximum sterility, but a clean, still-air workspace is sufficient for most purposes.
Step 2: Wipe All Vial Tops
Using a fresh alcohol wipe, thoroughly clean the rubber stopper on both the BAC water vial and the peptide vial. Allow the alcohol to evaporate completely (at least 30 seconds). Never inject through a wet stopper โ alcohol can degrade the peptide on contact.
Step 3: Prepare the Syringe
Draw air into the syringe equal to the volume of BAC water you plan to inject (e.g., 2mL for a 5mg vial). Inject this air into the BAC water vial to equalize pressure. Then draw your BAC water volume. Remove any air bubbles by tapping the syringe.
Step 4: Inject BAC Water
Insert the needle into the peptide vial at a 45-degree angle through the rubber stopper. Slowly inject the BAC water down the side of the vial โ never directly onto the peptide powder cake, as this can cause denaturation. The goal is to let the water flow gently down the glass wall and dissolve the powder naturally.
Step 5: Gentle Dissolution
Remove the syringe. Do not shake or vortex. Gently swirl the vial in a circular motion until all powder is fully dissolved. If any powder remains on the vial walls, tilt and swirl gently. The solution should be clear with no visible particles. Some peptides foam slightly โ if this happens, let it settle.
Step 6: Calculate Your Dosage
Dosage Calculator Formula
Concentration = Total mg รท Total mL of BAC water
Example: 5mg รท 2mL = 2.5mg/mL (250mcg per 0.1mL)
Insulin syringe: 0.1mL = 10 units on a 1mL syringe
Step 7: Storage
Store reconstituted peptides in the refrigerator at 2-8ยฐC. Most peptides remain stable for 7-14 days after reconstitution. For longer storage, keep the peptide lyophilized (powdered) in the freezer. Never freeze reconstituted peptides. Element42 provides a full storage guide with every order.
